One-time setup. The app is not code-signed yet, so the first launch needs a single confirmation.
Windows
- Run the installer and follow the prompts.
- On first launch, Windows SmartScreen shows an unknown-publisher warning. Click More info, then Run anyway.
- NotionManager opens and stays in your Start menu.
The portable build installs nothing — download it and run the .exe directly.
macOS
- Open the .dmg and drag NotionManager to Applications.
- On first launch, Gatekeeper says the app cannot be checked. Right-click it and choose Open, or go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.
- The warning appears once per download, not every start.
Linux
- Mark the AppImage executable and run it.
- On Ubuntu 22.04+ you may need libfuse2 first.

Add your Notion integration token
Create an internal integration in Notion and share the pages or databases you want protected with it. It reads only what you share, and only reads. Keep the token to hand for the next step.

Create a backup profile
A profile is one workspace, one destination folder and one schedule. Paste the token from the first step, point the destination at a folder on your disk, an external drive or a NAS share, and choose how many versions to keep.

Run the profile
Start the first backup and open the local copy to check that pages, databases and relations are all there. After that, the schedule takes over.

A finished backup is a workspace you can read without Notion.

What does the free tier include?
Up to 100 blocks per backup job — a block is roughly a paragraph — and no limit on how many backups you run. Local browsing is limited: a database opens in one view only. Search covers page and database titles, not their contents. Scheduled backups, retention, remote browsing and full-text search are what a paid licence adds.
Where does my data live, and how do I change it?
Wherever the profile points: a folder on your machine, an external drive or a NAS share. Changing the destination of a profile resets its backup database, so the clean way to move it is to create a new profile aimed at the location you want.
The app is not signed yet — is it safe?
Yes. A code signature says who issued a file; it is not a safety check. What you can actually verify is integrity: every installer publishes a SHA-256 checksum, so you can confirm the file was not altered on the way to you. An unsigned app asks the operating system for a one-time confirmation, and after that it runs normally.
